I would like to introduce our readers to Eliza Olson of the Burns Bog Conservation Society.
Eliza has been a Thinkreferrals Member since August of 2007. Eliza is the Charity Representative of the Newton Chapter of Thinkreferrals.

Q: Where were you born?
A: Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan
Q: What are some of the odd jobs you have done in your life?
A: District Returning office at Snowdrift, NWT
Q: What level of education did you attain? Was this all planned?
A: I have a B.Ed.(5 years) plus some post secondary education (I never wrote the thesis. I got too busy)
Q: What was your first part time job?
A: Working for Sears.
Q: What was your first full time job?
A: Working for Blue Cross in Edmonton
Q: How did you get involved in your current Business?
A: By accident. I was part of the founding group in 1988 set up to fight the development of Burns Bog.
Q: Introduce us to your family.
A: Husband, Walter Davyduke, a retired towboat Master, daughters Kari Ann Braun, Karla-Lynn Olson, Granddaughter Megan Braun and son-in-law David Braun
Q: What does your Significant Other do?
A: Retired and spends his time building and repairing the boardwalk in the Delta Nature Reserve on the edge of Burns Bog. He also does a lot of other small but important jobs for the Society as well.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: Watch Coronation Street. Go swimming. Walk my dog, Annie.
Q: What are your favorite holiday getaways?
A: Yellowpoint Lodge on the Island. It’s summer camp for adults.
Q: Tell us a bit about your business?
A: The Burns Bog Conservation Society is a registered charity dedicated to protecting the ecological integrity of Burns Bog (the world’s only estuarine raised peat bog found in a Mediterranean climate) through education and providing facilities for public enjoyment. We produce educational material, give field trips and summer day camps. These are funded through sponsorships, grants, donations, membership and social enterprise activities. (We have some great ideas/products for gifts.)
Q: How can people get to know more about your business?
A: Ask for brochures. Get a group together and take a guided tour of the Delta Nature Reserve. Ask me to give a talk at one of your organizations. Check out our website. Give me a call. I am always happy to talk.
Q: What was the deciding factor to help you decide to join Thinkreferrals?
A: One of our members recommended Thinkreferrals.
Q: What are some of the Positive Business Results you have experienced in this Business Network?
A: It helps me to refocus my day/week. I get to meet wonderful people. It keeps me uptodate on current business activities.It gives me an opportunity to tell people about my favourite subject–Burns Bog and how it affects their daily lives.
Q: What are your pet peeves?
A: I am sure I have some, but I can’t think of any at the moment.
